In early April news broke that legendary singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, 71, had been hospitalized after she was found unconscious in her L.A. home.

Later that day a verified Twitter account for the singer reassured everyone that although she was in intensive care she was improving and in “good spirits.” Since then she has remained in hospital and on Tuesday April 28 reports quickly circulated that things were not looking good for Mitchell and she was in a coma.

Representatives have rushed to clarify the situation, stating, “Contrary to rumors circulating on the Internet today, Joni is not in a coma. Joni is still in the hospital – but she comprehends, she’s alert, and she has her full senses. A full recovery is expected.”

Documents were obtained indicating that Mitchell’s longtime friend Leslie Morris was filing to become the conservator of Mitchell’s estate because she reportedly has no “second degree” relatives.

A statement posted on her website however states, “the document obtained by a certain media outlet simply gives her longtime friend Leslie Morries the authority – in the absence of 24-hour care – to make care decisions for Joni once she leaves the hospital. As we all know, Joni is a strong-will woman and nowhere near giving up the fight.”
