Justin Bieber Confirms He Is Battling And “Overcoming” Lyme Disease
Published on January 9, 2020.Justin Bieber confirmed he’s battling Lyme disease on Wednesday via Instagram.
The Instagram post included a photo from a TMZ article with the headline, “Justin Bieber battling Lyme disease and winning.” In the post’s caption, the singer described how his life has changed since he received the diagnosis and mentioned his upcoming YouTube docuseries Justin Bieber: Seasons where hewill talk about his health further.
“While a lot of people kept saying justin Bieber looks like s—, on meth etc. they failed to realize I’ve been recently diagnosed with Lyme disease, not only that but had a serious case of chronic mono which affected my, skin, brain function, energy, and overall health,” Bieber captioned his post. “These things will be explained further in a docu series I’m putting on YouTube shortly.. you can learn all that I’ve been battling and OVERCOMING!!”
He continued, “It’s been a rough couple years but getting the right treatment that will help treat this so far incurable disease and I will be back and better than ever NO CAP.”
Lyme disease “is caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi and rarely, Borrelia mayonii. It is transmitted to humans through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks. Typical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans,” according to the Centers for Disease Control.
The singer’s docuseries premieres on January 27 and will give fans an “all-access” look into his life and return to the platform where his career launched. YouTube also revealed that fans would be able to watch a never-before-seen video of Bieber and Hailey Baldwin’s wedding.
Bieber has been working on a new album and a tour, both happening in 2020. He recently released one track from his new album called “Yummy” earlier in January.
