There is something going on with E!’s Fashion Police, although no one is willing to admit what the problem really is; but whatever it may be has now cost the hit show two of its hosts in less than two weeks.

Griffin officially took over for the late Joan Rivers as host in January and has only appeared in seven episodes before announcing she was quitting via a lengthy post on her Twitter account: “I thought I could bring my brand of humor to Fashion Police so beautiful people in beautiful dresses could be teased when appropriate […] I do not want to use my comedy to contribute to a culture of unattainable perfectionism and intolerance towards difference. I want to help women, gay kids, people of color, anyone who feels underrepresented to have a voice and LAUGH.”

She went on, stating: “I discovered that my style does not fit with the creative direction of the show & now it’s time to move on. I wish E! and the E! team only the best and I hope to continue to make you all laugh performing live or on television where I can be smart, irreverent, unrepentant and unafraid in an observational way that is candid, honest and justified.”

Griffin’s resignation comes after an onslaught of controversy for the show; following a racially charged comment made by another host -Giuliana Rancic, at the Oscars and after Kelly Osbourne announced she was also quitting the show to “try new things,” after much drama surrounding the comment.

On Thursday March 12, E! confirmed her exit in their own statement: “We can confirm that Kathy Griffin is leaving E!’s Fashion Police. We wish her all the best and are grateful for her time on the show, as well as the many laughs that she gave us all. Fashion Police will return, as scheduled, on Monday, March 30, at 9 p.m. with our talented co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski, and executive producer Melissa Rivers.”

There was already speculation about who might replace Osbourne following her February 27 exit, but now it seems two spots have opened up for potential Fashion Police candidates, though no replacements have been named.
