Kelly Clarkson Responds To Body Shaming Journalist Katie Hopkins

Kelly Clarkson has been battling comments about her weight for several years as she has fluctuated many times since bursting on to the scene back in 2002 on American Idol at the age of 20.

Although her weight has seem to have stayed the same since the arrival of her daughter River Rose, it seems some still feel the need to comment that she is not stick thin.

After Clarkson’s recent appearance on the British show The Graham Norton Show, British journalist Katie Hopkins took to her Twitter to shame Clarkson’s fuller figure. “Jesus, what happened to Kelly Clarkson? Did she eat all of her backup singers? Happily I have a wide-screen. #grahamnorton

Immediately many of Clarkson’s fans attacked and shamed Hopkins for her comment, with many saying she had just had a baby, causing  Hopkins to respond and body-shame the singer even further. “Look chubsters, Kelly Clarkson had a baby a year ago. That is no longer baby weight. That is carrot cake weight. Get over yourselves,” she tweeted.

Although Clarkson had many a fan rushing to her defense, it turns out she didn’t even know about the comments and couldn’t care about them when she did find out during an interview with Heat magazine.

“She’s tweeted something nasty about me?,” Clarkson asked genuinely puzzled about being asked about the online body-shaming. “That’s because she doesn’t know me. I’m awesome! It doesn’t bother me. It’s a free world. Say what you will.”

She went on to reassure everyone that she is not bothered by the hate, “I’ve just never cared what people think. It’s more if I’m happy and I’m confident and feeling good. That’s always been my thing. And more so now, since having a family – I don’t seek out any other acceptance.”
