Kevin Spacey has flipped convention on its head. He has made the decision to do what he wants to do when he wants to do it and somewhere along the line he decided: It’d be pretty awesome to do some acting in a video game.
That is, of course, a paraphrase of what Kevin Spacey might say to himself, a dear friend, his agent or even at a family gathering — but it’s not hard to imagine him saying it. Actually doing it, however? He has. And the information allegedly leaked. Kevin Spacey plays either the lead protagonist or antagonist character in the newest Call of Duty game, “Advanced Warfare,” set to be released on November 4, 2014.
The information leaked in regards to Spacey’s involvement in the form of the first trailer, so Sledgehammer Games decided to push the trailer into wide release. Along those lines, when an organization or individual says something “leaked,” it’s basically the best promotion you can get for free. Leak = spread like wildfire through social media. Saying something leaked taps into the most appealing of lures and everyone is sure to check it out.
As far as leaks go, it’s safe to presume that Kevin Spacey’s involvement in the game was “leaked” at a perfect time by Sledgehammer to garner mass interest, and a whole lot of pre-orders from the COD loyalists, as well as those folks who have been longtime fans of Kevin Spacey, Verbal Kint or who are rabid fans of politician-Spacey in House of Cards.
If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, it’s pretty impressive. Looks like a good action flick starring Kevin Spacey — that’s probably what the developers were going for. Check it out below!
