Kristin Cavallari And Jay Cutler’s Split Reportedly Had “Absolutely Nothing To Do” With Cheating Rumors

Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler surprised the world when they announced on Sunday, April 26, that they have decided to split after a decade together, however, a source revealed to PEOPLE that the duo was struggling months before.

“Kristin and Jay had been having problems for a long time. They hadn’t spent much time together in recent months,” the source revealed to PEOPLE.

On Sunday, Cavallari shared she and the former NFL quarterback were separating after seven years of marriage. The pair share sons Camden, Jaxon, and daughter Saylor.

“With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce,” she wrote. “We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of. This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family.”

Before the couple announced their split, Cavallari and Cutler returned home after a three-week trip to the Bahamas, which was supposed to be a spring break vacation with their children as well as Cavallari’s hairstylist Justin Anderson and his fiancé Austin “Scoot” Rhodes.

“On their recent trip, they already knew they were splitting up,” the source told the outlet. “The reason they announced it now is because it’s a quiet time for them to work through all of this and try to move forward.”

On the latest season of Cavallari’s reality series Very Cavallari, viewers saw the end of her friendship with longtime pal Kelly Henderson. The season also spotlighted the trouble Cavallari and Cutler were facing in their marriage, specifically rumors speculating he was having an affair with Henderson.

The source revealed to PEOPLE the pair’s split had “absolutely nothing to do” with Henderson or the cheating rumors. “Kristin and Jay are a lot different. She has so much on her plate, with her brands and with the show,” the source said.

The source added, “Jay is not as interested in all of that. She’s so passionate about her work and they couldn’t relate to each other as much. So it pulled them apart.”
