This weekend marked a somber time for Kristin Cavallari’s family.
Late November marks two years since the death of Cavallari’s brother, Michael Cavallari, and on Saturday November 25, the former The Hills star took to her social media to share an emotional tribute. “This past week has been hard- it’s the 2nd anniversary of losing my brother and even though the date we go with is the 27th, for me it will always be the Saturday after thanksgiving,” she began, going on to explain that they never found out how long he had been dead before his body was found, “(we will never truly know the exact date even though we have a pretty good idea).”
She continued, ” We lost him completely unexpectedly and it’s been a rough road for me and my family. I’ve had some incredible signs from him though- which give me a lot of peace- including one today. We love and miss you everyday Mikey.”
In late 2016 news broke that Michael Cavallari was missing after a car accident in Grand County, Utah. While his car was found about five miles south of Interstate 70, there was no sign of Michael and a few days later his body was found in a “steep and very rocky area.”
A few months after his death a medical examiner officially ruled the 30-year-old’s death an accident and the official cause given was hypothermia.
Almost one year after the accident, Kristin Cavallari opened up about the difficult time for her family, revealing that her children, especially the birth of her daughter Saylor only one month before Michael’s death gave her strength. “I still do find a lot of strength in my children, because of the timing of everything. You can’t just stay in bed and feel sorry for yourself. You gotta get up. You have other lives you have to take care of. You have to put food on the table and get them dressed and off to school and everything. So yeah, you can’t just feel sorry for yourself.”
