Lady Gaga Opens Up About Her Split From Taylor Kinney

Amid the recent news that Lady Gaga and her fiancé Taylor Kinney have called off their engagement, the singer released a public statement about the split.
On Tuesday, the 30-year-old singer confirmed that she had split from her longtime partner after five years together. “Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates. Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break,” she posted on Instagram. “We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We’re just like everybody else and we really love each other,” she added. Lady Gaga’s post included a black and white photo of her and Kinney with their arms around each other.
Kinney, 35, proposed to Gaga on Valentine’s Day in 2015 while the two were dining at the singer’s family restaurant, Joanne’s Trattoria, in Manhattan. “He gave me his heart on Valentine’s Day, and I said YES!” Gaga shared on Instagram after the proposal, along with a photo of her heart-shaped engagement ring.
On Tuesday, Gaga was seen in Malibu, California, without the ring on her finger. According to a source in People, the couple struggled with having a long distance relationship. “She’s working on an album, he’s working on his show, they aren’t in the same state, it was just hard. They both love each other very much and they want it to work. It’s just been tough with the long distance,” the source said.
