Actress Lucy Liu took to her social media on Thursday, August 27 to announce the arrival of her newborn son, sharing a photo and revealing his name.
Along with a black-and-white photo in which the new mom is cradling her son in a rocking chair she wrote, “Introducing the new little man in my life, my son Rockwell Lloyd Liu.”
If the news is surprising because you didn’t know the 46-year-old actress was pregnant, it’s because she wasn’t; Liu welcomed her son via surrogate. Upon his arrival, her rep released a statement confirming the happy news: “I can confirm Lucy Liu is the proud mother of Rockwell Lloyd lie, brought into the world via gestational carrier. Mom and baby are healthy and happy.”
Liu is very private about her persona life; however, this is her first child, but there is no word if she decided to have the child with a romantic partner.
Back in 2010 she spoke to USA Today about the expectation for women to settle down and have kids by a certain age. “I don’t have a settling-down time,” she said while joking that her biological clock was broken. “Someone threw out the battery. “I never feel like it’s too early or too late for anything. I don’t ever think for me that this traditional way is the way to go for me because I haven’t had a traditional life.”
