Following a disturbing incident last week in which former Teen Mom 2 star David Eason allegedly shot and killed his wife Jenelle Evans’ dog, the backlash has increased.
With outrage from viewers, fans, and animal rights activists alike, it is now being reported that many advertisers and sponsors are pulling their advertisements from the MTV series.
The pet dental treat company Greenies tweeted on May 3, “We have zero tolerance for animal cruelty. We can now confirm that, as a result of this incident, our GREENIES ads will no longer run during Teen Mom programming.”
“Thank you for bringing this to our attention,” sponsor Persil ProClean responded to a concerned Twitter user. “We are no longer advertising on Teen Mom 2. Again, thank you for your feedback.”
Dove Chocolate echoed those sentiments, writing, “We in no way condone animal cruelty or the mistreatment of animals. We appreciate your feedback and wanted to share that we have stopped advertising on Teen Mom programming. Additionally Chipotle and TWIX both announced they have stopped advertising during the show’s programming as well.
On May 1, it was reported that Jenelle had left the home she shares with husband David Eason after he allegedly shot and killed her small dog Nugget after the dog “snapped” at the couple’s 2-year-old daughter Ensley. Shortly after the news broke, Eason took to his Instagram in a now deleted post to share a video of the dog snapping at Ensley, and defended his actions, writing, “I dont give a damn what animal bites my baby on the face… whether it be your dog or mine, a dog is a dog and I dont put up with that shit at all.”
He added, “I’m all about protecting my family, it is my lifes mission. Some people are worth killing or dying for and my family means that much to me. You can hate me all you want but this isnt the first time the dog bit Ensley aggressively. The only person that can judge weather or not a animal is a danger to MY CHILD is ME.”
After David’s post, Jenelle took to Instagram to share an emotional tribute to Nugget, seemingly confirming what had happened.
According to reports, the news was released after Jenelle’s ex Nathan Griffith called authorities asking for a wellness check on his son Kaiser, who was with Jenelle and David at the time. Meanwhile Jenelle’s eldest child, Jace, was with his grandmother on a cruise.
MTV previous fired Eason from Teen Mom 2 in February 2018 after the reality star allegedly posted homophobic tweets.
