‘Martin’ Star Tommy Ford Passes Away At 52

Actor Tommy Ford, who was best known for his role in the ’90s sitcom Martin, passed away at the age of 52 multiple sources have confirmed. Ford was surrounded by family and friends when he passed away at an Atlanta hospital on Wednesday, October 12.

The actor’s family made the decision to take him off of life support on Wednesday, a few days after he was admitted to the hospital for a ruptured aneurysm in his abdomen.

From 1992-1997, Ford portrayed Thomas “Tommy” Strawn on Fox’s Martin, after which he played Lieutenant Malcom Baker for New York Undercover’s fourth and final season in 1998. He also appeared on The Parkers and The Jamie Foxx Show before taking a break from the industry before returning as the judge of the comedy competition show, Who’s Got Jokes?

After the news of his death broke, many friends and fans sent their condolences over his death including his Martin co-star Martin Lawrence. “Tommy was not only a great costar but he was a great man and a friend. He always brought with him his spirituality a positive attitude and so much joy. I am sad the world lost a great talent and that I lost a wonderful friend. God bless him and his family,” Lawrence said in a statement.
