Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen Make Rare Red Carpet Appearance

Former child stars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, 28,  have eased their way out of the spotlight, focusing more on their business ventures including their fashion line.

While they normally are no longer seen at red carpet events, they made a rare appearance at the 2014 World of Children Awards on Thursday November 6 in New York City.

The twins, who design for their Elizabeth and James brand, appeared in their usual “oversized” style.

The two girls are known for draping their very petite frames in massive clothing, while Mary-Kate did not fail to disappoint in her huge wool jacket, Ashley chose a more body-hugging skirt with a splash of color.

Mary-Kate made headlines late last month with reports that she and banker fiancé Olivier Sarkozy had secretly wed, although in true Olsen fashion the truth behind the reports has remained elusive.

In 2013, Ashley Olsen explained how they went from being the center of attention to staying in the background while remaining successful.

“There is a threshold in New York, and once you pass that and are considered a New Yorker, they leave you alone. But we’re at the office every day, then home or out to dinner, so there aren’t the opportunities for them to take pictures. For the most part you try and avoid it…[I do], at least.”

In similar fashion to Renee Zellweger, who hadn’t been seen in a long time before showing off a much changed face on the red carpet, there is speculation Mary-Kate has also had some work done.

In this case however, it is probably just because no one is used to seeing the Olsen’s out and about.
