Naya Rivera Shocks With “Showering Daily Is A White People Thing” Comment

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however if your opinion is idiotic and definitely going to offend millions as you share it on national television, maybe you just shouldn’t say it.

Apparently Glee actress Naya Rivera doesn’t agree with that however after she shared her thoughts on the differences in hygienic tendencies between white people and “ethnics.”

The odd subject came about while Rivera was on The View on Tuesday January 13 chatting with Rosie O’Donnell, Nicolle Wallace and the other ladies at the roundtable.

“I have to say I have a theory about showering, which is I think that white people shower a lot more than ethnics. I feel like showering more than once a day or every day is such a white people thing,” she stated.

The comment instantly shocked both the panel and the audience as Rosie O’Donnell quickly pointed out, “Look, there is an African-American woman right there in a yellow shirt that is about to have a heart attack,” as the camera pointed to the lady who was laughing but obviously shocked by what was said.

Immediately realizing what she said would definitely be taken offensively she attempted to justify her statement by explaining, “My mom is half black, half Puerto Rican. She showers every day so I can say this. But now I’m married to a white man (Ryan Dorsey). He showers a lot, like two, three times a day. I’m like, ‘What are you doing?'”

Just to make sure she couldn’t be called out, she even tried using researched backup, “A study says…a dermatologist says you are only supposed to shower once or twice every three days, so I’m right on the mark.”

Viewers instantly responded on social media, “Now white people gonna think we don’t shower cuz of Naya Rivera,” one Twitter user said.

After the news of her comments went viral Rivera posted a response on her Twitter writing, “When you get out of the shower today, get a sense of humor. Love ya!”
