Lucifer has had an interesting turn of events when it comes to their final season! The series initially ran on Fox for three seasons before it was canceled in 2018, which sparked an uproar from fans. Netflix ended up resurrecting Lucifer for a fourth season that debuted last May.

In June 2019, Netflix renewed Lucifer for a 10-episode fifth and final season, but then a month later, they increased the season to sixteen episodes. Near the end of February, more reports started swirling that Netflix was reconsidering season 6 being the final season of the show.

With season five on the way, Netflix has teased some of the main plot points that will carry the show into season six. “Lucifer makes a tumultuous return, Chloe rethinks romance, Ella finally finds a nice guy, and Amenadiel adjusts to the whole fatherhood thing.”

Lucifer season 5A drops Aug. 21 on Netflix.
