‘Party Of Five’ Reboot Gets Pilot Order At Freeform

The reboots just keep on coming!

With nostalgia absolutely dominating the culture of TV and film these days, it looks like Freeform is working on bringing back another beloved ’90s series. According to multiple reports, the network which was formerly known as ABC Family has given a pilot order to reboot Party of Five, and fans of the series will be happy to know that the original series’ creators Chris Keyser and Amy Lippman are in charge of modernizing the show for the reboot.

As always, they will be changing the themes to fit the social landscape of today, and while the reboot will again focus on five siblings, it will do so as five new siblings, the Buendias, struggle to keep their family together when their parents are deported back to Mexico.

Along with the return of Keyser and Lippman, the reboot will also have  Michal Zebede writing and co-executive producing. Rodrigo Garcia is set to direct and also executive produce. Sony Pictures Television Studios will produce.

Fans clearly remember the original Party of Five which ran from 1994-2000 and starred Scott Wolf, Matthew Fox, Neve Campbell, Lacey Chabert, and Jennifer Love Hewitt, which even spawned its own spinoff, Time of Your Life, which followed Jennifer Love Hewitt’s character but was canceled after only one season.

Over the years, as reboots and revivals have become increasingly popular, many of the original stars have been asked about the possibility of a revival, but was quickly shut down by Neve Campbell who said it wouldn’t make sense for the Salingers to return, “It wouldn’t make any sense whatsoever. If we haven’t over the death of our parents 20 years later we have a serious problem.”
