Paula Patton Opens Up About Robin Thicke Split
Published on March 6, 2015.Paula Patton and Robin Thicke have been separated for over a year now after a relationship filled with turmoil involving multiple reports of Thicke’s infidelity and drug and alcohol abuse. However at the time of the split both parties stated “we will always love each other and be best friends.”
Since then Paula has been spotted out and about with their 4 year old son Julian, and officially filed the divorce papers on October 3, 2014 making it certain that the two were not headed for a reconciliation.
Patton has remained silent since the split, even after Thicke admitted to being on drugs and alcohol while looking after their son which he says was ultimately the cause of their separation: “I told my wife the truth. That’s why she left me,” he said in April.
On Good Morning America on Friday March 6, Patton spoke out about her life post-split and being single once again. “I’m doing really well. I mean, the honest truth is it has been challenging, but it’s been a year of growth, learning about all new things. My son’s happy and I’m very — you know, I feel like everything happens for a reason. And then you have to move on and grow from there,” she stated.
Although Thicke was quickly linked to a 19-year old model following the split from his wife, Patton’s focus is all on her son, who even though she shares with Thicke, is helping her move forward. “The thing is you can’t wallow in sadness or stay in bed when you have a child. And they’re so full of life and wonder. And he brings me so much joy.”
Patton of course has a lot more to keep her busy as well; she has not only a new clothing line but a lead role in a new ABC drama, “Runner.”
“Usually the positive outweighs that [the negative]. And you have to just be thankful for what you have right now.”
