Police Respond To Reported Shooting At Lil Wayne’s Miami Home

Police have responded to a call at the Miami Beach home of rapper Lil Wayne on Wednesday March 12 after they received reports that there had been a shooting at the residence.

TMZ reports that someone contacted law enforcement stating that four people had already been shot at Lil Wayne’s mansion and the person was intending to start a gunfight with officers. Lil Wayne is in Miami, but was not at home at the time of the incident. His entertainment team Young Money tweeted out: “Wayne is okay. Wasn’t home during alleged events,” and re-tweeting, Mick Maine wrote: “Everybody good on our side… thanks for the concern.”

“At this point, our officers are on the scene with an established perimeter. Our officers have not located any victims,” Officer Ernesto Rodriguez told USA TODAY.

TMZ also reported that it is believed a shooting did not actually happen and the call was a case of “swatting”; where someone phones in an emergency only to get a “full force” response from law enforcement teams.

Only a few days before the call, police were at the residence after getting a call about a “suspicious person” outside of the house, but could not retain or charge the man because he was on public property when they got there.
