Prince Harry And Ed Sheeran Team Up As “Gingers” For World Mental Health Day

Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran are joining forces as “gingers” to raise awareness for World Mental Health Day!

In a video shared by the Sussex Royal Instagram page, the pair teased the colloboration with a short video of Sheeran showing up at the royal’s house. On Thursday, October 10, which is officially World Mental Health Day the pair released a short video of the two teaming up.

Sheeran meets with the prince in order to talk about an issue he thinks they have in common: being teased for having red hair.

“I’ve been trying to write a song about this to get it out to more people,” Sheeran shares with Prince Harry in the video. “People just don’t understand what it’s like for people like us — with the jokes and the snide comments. I just feel like it’s time we stood up and said, ‘We are ginger, and we are going to fight.’”

Harry then steps in to correct him, “Um, okay. This is slightly awkward. There may have been a miscommunication — this is about World Mental Health Day?”

As Sheeran realizes his mistake, he quickly deletes the title of his song — “Gingers Unite” — on his computer. Also displayed on the screen in the spoof video is a proposed meeting outline: “HRH Prince Harry and the king of ging Ed Sheeran get together to change the perception of people with Moroccan sunset hair.”

Together the two then share their serious message: “Reach out, make sure your friends, strangers, look out for anybody that might be suffering in silence. We’re all in this together. Cheers.”

Along with the video, the Royals shared on Instagram, “It’s World Mental Health Day! Both Prince Harry and Ed Sheeran want to ensure that not just today but every day, you look after yourself, your friends and those around you. There’s no need to suffer in silence – share how you’re feeling, ask how someone is doing and listen for the answer. Be willing to ask for help when you need it and know that we are all in this together. #WMHD,” and also shared a wide variety of resources and support.

In addition to Prince Harry’s efforts, The Royal Family Instagram page also shared other initiatives by the royals in support of World Mental Health Day.
