Police are now investigating reports from a man claiming that rapper DMX and his entourage robbed a man at a Newark, New Jersey gas station in the early morning of Easter Sunday. A 21-year-old unnamed man told police that he was robbed by gunpoint by one of DMX’s entourage members after recognizing the actor while at a gas station around 12:30 a.m.

The man states that after recognizing it was DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, he approached the rapper and started talking to him about rap music and that’s when another person with DMX pulled out a gun demanding money from the man, according to Newark police spokesman Ronald Glover.

The victim claims he had to hand over $3200 in cash that he had on him and, after grabbing the money, the group took off in four black Cadillac Escalades but he was able to record one of the SUV’s license plates. No arrests have been made in the case.

DMX was in New Jersey for a scheduled performance at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, tweeting afterward and shortly before the alleged robbery, “Jersey!!!! Thank You!! For real Thank You!!!!!”

DMX already has a history of being on the wrong side of the law and has been arrested numerous times including in 2004 when he tried to steal a car at Kennedy Airport in New York.
