Riverdale star Mark Consuelos has opened up about his friendship with his former costar, the late Luke Perry.
This past Wednesday Riverdale released the final episode that Luke Perry had filmed for the show. His final scene featured Perry’s character Fred Andrews comforting his son Archie (K.J. Apa) after being accused of committing a crime. It’s still unclear how exactly Fred’s storyline will end on the show, but the Riverdale showrunner has confirmed that this episode was the last that Perry had filmed before tragically passing from a stroke on February 27th.
Riverdale star Mark Consuelos has spent some time since Perry’s death reflecting on their friendship and shared that he really admired Perry’s outlook on life. “One thing about Luke that always struck me was the way he talked about his life. He had so many good stories, and he saw them as chapters in his life,” he explained to Esquire. “He recalled them with such fondness, even if it was a s—y time. He always found the wit and humor in these crazy situations. He always found the beauty in it.”
Consuelos added, “I knew him for such a short time and he had such an impact on me, and everyone around him,” he said. “I feel grateful that maybe I was a passage, a page or two, in a chapter of his life.”
