Ryan Gosling Eats Cereal In Memory Of Ryan McHenry
Published on May 5, 2015.The young, Scottish filmmaker, Ryan McHenry passed away on Sunday, after a bout with a rare cancer. Honoring his memory, Ryan Gosling offered a thanks, and nod of creativity to his fellow Ryan.
Didn’t know Ryan McHenry? Sure you did. Well, probably not personally, but you did know his work. His many golden offerings of “Ryan Gosling Won’t Eat His Cereal.” His Vine compilations became viral hits, and good for some six second laughs when you were having a really terrible day, or lost in boredom or seeking simplistic genius and razor-sharp wit. Learning of Ryan McHenry’s death, Ryan Gosling did the only thing he could. He sat down, poured himself a bowl of cereal and took a bite. He also tweeted a message:
My heart goes out to all of Ryan McHenry’s family and friends. Feel very lucky to have been apart of his life in some small way.
Not only that, but Ryan Gosling did it in a way that was so genuine, it’s touching to watch. This dude. Damn. Why must he be so cool? And does he never age!?
The crazy thing about McHenry’s cereal vids…? They started in 2013. Doesn’t it seem like they’ve been around for a decade? They are one of the few memorable memes and videos that have permeated the vast fields of Internet schlock over the past few years. And again, we have to look to Ryan Gosling for such viral potency. The two Ryans were quite a tandem of fellas who had never met. One can only imagine: What if they had gotten together? Surely, they would have developed something offering a combination of punches… I imagine The Notebook and Drive… all in one movie. About cereal.
