A-listers Ryan Reynolds, 38, and wife Blake Lively, 27, have been playing coy about the name of their baby daughter since she was born in December.

While back to work doing rounds with the press, however, Reynolds hasn’t been shy about talking about his baby girl, her sleeping habits and, of course, how much he loves her and his wife. Finally, now three months after her birth, the proud dad confirmed her name.

While on The Today Show on Friday March 20 host Willie Geist asked about names that Reynolds had previously joked about, “You did say a few months ago, before she was born, that you were going to name her Excalibur Anaconda Reynolds. So we can call her Anna at least – short for Anaconda?”

A straightfaced Reynolds replied, “That is not the child’s name. It’s Butternut Summersquash,” he teased before finally saying, “It’s James. Everyone knows.”

Just over a month ago rumors spread that the little girl’s name was in fact James but neither parent confirmed the news, until now.

“I didn’t want to be the first guy screaming it out to the media. Because as we know, little girls turn into teenage girls and little teenage girls sometimes scan through the archives and go, ‘Why did you do that?'”

Previous to James being the confirmed name, a much more feminine name, Violet, was rumored to be her moniker, but even though James is traditionally a boys name, don’t forget her mother’s name is Blake, also traditionally male, and there has been an increasing cross-over of “girls” or “boys” names these days.
