Ryan Reynolds Hilariously Wishes “Ex-Girlfriend” Betty White A Happy Birthday

Actor Ryan Reynolds made sure to send his The Proposal costar Betty White a very special Happy Birthday wish for her 97th birthday on Thursday, January 17.

Reynolds took to Instagram on White’s big day to share his hilarious message. The 42-year-old posted a photo of the two looking at each other while on a talk show, and added the caption, “I don’t usually wish ex-girlfriends Happy Birthday. But Betty’s special. Happy Birthday to the one and only, @bettymwhite.”

Reynolds and White have had a special friendship ever since they starred in the beloved 2009 romantic comedy together along with Sandra Bullock. For White’s 96th birthday last year, the Canadian actor posted an image of himself dressed as Deadpool alongside a photo of White holding a hot dog, poking fun at White’s previous comment that her secret to a long life has been consuming foods she loves, namely hot dogs and vodka. “Happy Birthday to the one and only @bettymwhite! Cheers to another year of ‘Tinis and Weenies!” Reynolds wrote alongside that birthday post.

While White has stepped out of the spotlight in recent years, she did make an appearance at the 2018 Emmy Awards where she reflected on her age and her length in the business. “It’s incredible that I’m still in this business and you are still putting up with me … It’s incredible that you can stay in a career this long and still have people put up with you. I wish they did that at home.”
