“We are very hospitable to the idea,” the actress said while on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM show Radio Andy, on Thursday, May 28.
“I think for a long time people were talking about it as if people we’re moving forward with it in a real way but we were unaware of it,” Parker continued. “But I think now we’ve gotten to the point where we’ve agreed publicly to the right people — ‘yes that would be a very very fun idea,’ so we’ll see what the future holds.”
The original Hocus Pocus movie followed a trio of witch sisters who, after accidentally resurrected on Halloween, set out to suck the life out of a town of children to undo a curse that sent them away 300 years earlier.
Hocus Pocus 2 for Disney+ was announced last October and in March, Hairspray director Adam Shankman revealed that he will direct the sequel.
“Yep….Thanks with all of my heart dear @disney Looks like Il be working on a looooooottttt of magic for awhile… I feel incredibly honored and humbled to be guiding forward these two Disney crown jewel legacies,” Shankman wrote on Instagram at the time.
Previously, Midler has expressed her interest in reprising her role in the Hocus Pocus sequel, most recently talking about the movie at her annual Hulaween event in New York City.
“Oh my goodness me. Oh I hope they get to me before I’m a corpse,” Midler quipped to Entertainment Tonight.
“We wanna fly again,” she added. “I hope Disney+ is a big success and I hope we get to do it, because [Winnie] is, of course, one of my favorite characters.”
