According to TMZ, he did not seek help for substance-related issues, his decision to check into rehab was linked to emotional issues over the loss of his parents, Bonnie and Jeffrey Disick, in October 2013 and January 2014.
“In an effort to finally come to terms and deal with the pain that Scott has been silently suffering for many years due to the sudden death of his mother, followed by the death of his father 3 months later, Scott made the decision to check himself into a rehab facility last week to work on his past traumas,” Disick’s lawyer Marty Singer told Us Weekly on Monday.
Singer also told E! News that the surfaced photo of his client inside the facility was a “violation” of his privacy and confirmed “he has checked himself out and is immediately returning home.”
Disick entered treatment on Tuesday, April 28, after self-isolating in L.A. during the ongoing public health situation.
A source revealed to Us Weekly hours before his self-discharge that he was at the medical facility “for rehab purposes.”
During a recent episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, on Thursday, April 30, Disick, who is an only child, opened up about the emotional strain he still feels after the passing of both his parents.
“Losing my parents is not an easy subject for me to talk about,” Scott said in the episode while going looking at old photos. “It puts me in a very vulnerable place, to remember them and think about them.”
Disick has a past with substance-related hospitalizations and rehab facility stays.
His most recent rehab stint occurred in 2017 following a hospitalization where he was put on a 5150 psychiatric hold. Since that incident, when occurred in August of that year, Disick has remained sober.
Disick shares children Mason, Penelope and Reign with ex-girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian. The reality star is currently dating Sofia Richie.
