With Duchess Meghan due any day now, bet placers and bookies in the U.K. are looking for any hints as to the gender of the newest royal, and now many thing that Meghan Markle’s famous friend Serena Williams may have let slip whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting a boy or a girl!
In a recent interview, the incredible tennis star was asked if she had any advice for her new parents after welcoming her own daughter Alexis Olympia last year, and her response caught the attention of many who know how close Williams is to Meghan.
“Accept mistakes and don’t expect to be perfect. We put so much pressure on ourselves,” she said. Her next comments is what raised everyone’s eyebrows though.“My friend is pregnant, and she was like, ‘My kid’s gonna do this,’ [and] I just looked at her like, ‘No, she’s not. No, you’re not. She was like, ‘I need to talk to you about tips,’ because, yes, I had all of those high expectations,” she added.
While Meghan has said that both she and Prince Harry wanted the gender of their baby to be a surprise and didn’t know if they were expect a boy or a girl, a lot of royal watchers think Williams’ comments might have been a slip-up that the Royal couples are expecting a baby girl.
Although it is more than likely that Williams could have been talking about a different friend, or just using “she” because of her own daughter, the gambling company Ladbrokes still slashed the odds of Meghan having a girl from 8/13 to 4/7.
“Royal punters are looking for any slip-ups and Serena might just have given them one. We’re taking no chances and have slashed odds on a girl as a result,” spokesperson Alex Apati said.
Meanwhile many are looking back to last April when Prince William made telling comments and seemingly accidentally revealed the gender of his third child with wife Duchess Kate and seemed to hint that the baby was a boy. Later that month the royal couple did welcome a son, Prince Louis.
While no exact due date has been given, Meghan did previously reveal that her first child with husband Prince Harry is due in April.
