Shania Twain Announces Farewell Tour
Published on March 4, 2015.After decades in the music industry and dominating as the queen of country music for years it seems Shania Twain has had enough of life on the road, as she announced on Wednesday March 4 that her next tour will be her last.
While on Good Morning America the five-time Grammy winner stated, “It’s the after-party tour. That’s how I see it. It’s the after-party to all of these years.”
Twain begins her “Rock This Country” tour in Seattle on June 5, 2015 and will tour throughout 48 cities covering both America and the singer’s native country of Canada, wrapping up in August just a few days before the star turns 50.
“This is a very, very important time on the road for me. I just feel like I’m ready to hang my hat up in that regard. I just really want to go out with a bang,” Twain confirmed of the tour definitely being her last.
The superstar recently finished a very successful two year residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas which included some intricate theatrics and a lot of costume changes. While she said she “enjoyed it” she has different plans for her road tour, “I didn’t want to take part of the show on the road, I wanted to take an entirely new show that was custom-made for touring.”
Twain has sold more than 75 million records worldwide and her 1997 album “Come on Over” is still the bestselling album ever by a woman as well as the bestselling country album of all time.
She did clarify however that while she is making “Rock This Country” her last tour, she is still making new music with a new album to come out in the next year.
“I’m working on the new record as we speak. I’m on the microphone every day recording. That will be coming up after the tour. I want to enjoy that party and then I’ll get back to the record. I want it to come out when I’m 50, so I’m going to make it happen.”
