Sofia Vergara’s Modern Family character Gloria may have married a wealthy man, but in real life she pulls in all the dough herself. According to Forbes, the 41 year-old actress brought in $30 million between June 2012 and June 2013, making her TV’s highest paid actor.
She even beat out all the boys. Sofia made around $6 million more than the highest–paid male TV actor, Ashton Kutcher from Two and a Half Men, and nearly three times as much as the next woman on the list, Kaley Cuoco from The Big Bang Theory.
The key to Sofia’s high income is multi-tasking. She pulls in about $175,000 per episode for Modern Family, but she also works as a celebrity spokesperson for Diet Coke, Cover Girl, Comcast, State Farm Insurance, and even Synthroid, a thyroid medication. She also has a successful clothing line at K-Mart and co-runs the Latin World Entertainment management company. On the Forbes list of Most Powerful Celebrities, Sofia came in at 54 this year.
According to a new infographic from New York Film Academy about the current gender inequality in film, Sofia trails behind the highest paid female movie star, Angelina Jolie, who pulled in $30 million in 2013 for just a single film. Other high-earning women include Jennifer Lawrence ($26 million), Kristen Stewart ($22 million) and Jennifer Aniston ($20 million) – but they all trail behind male stars. Robert Downey, Jr. made a whopping $75 million for just one film, while Channing Tatum raked in $60 million. Add in celebrity endorsements and their annual salaries are through the roof.
