Anticipation for the newest film in the Star Wars franchise is mounting as more and more is released about the upcoming flick.
After Walt Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012 they immediately announced production plans for another trilogy sending Star Wars fans into a frenzy of excitement.
They then went ahead and announced that several of the original and beloved cast would be returning including Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia and Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, causing even more anticipation for the film.
On Thursday November 6, Walt Disney Pictures finally announced the name for Star Wars Episode VII, calling it The Force Awakens, and now the first official teaser trailer has been released and it is safe to say it does not alleviate any anticipation at all.
The clip is quick and overall unrevealing as glimpses of Storm Troopers and rebel pilots flash by and a hooded figure with a three pronged light sabre appears with a voice over ominously stating, “The Dark Side…and the Light.”
The minute and a half trailer also builds up to the classic score by John Williams’ that only leaves the viewer wanting more.
The teaser trailer release comes after several fan trailers claimed to be the real thing have appeared with one gaining over 4 million views on YouTube.
Stars Wars Episode VII- The Force Awakens is set for theatrical release December 18, 2015.
