‘Stranger Things’ Star Joe Keery Says Season 4 Will Be “A Lot Scarier Than Prior Years”

Stranger Things is about to get even scarier!

While there isn’t much known about the plot of the upcoming season 4 of Stranger Things, star Joe Keery recently shared some insight into what fans can expect from season 4 of the hit Netflix series.

“Oh man, it’s pretty amazing – the Duffer brothers have really done it again,” Keery told Total Film magazine. “I think that this year – and I know I say this every single year – but this is definitely going to be a lot scarier than prior years, because last year was pretty dark.”

Keery, who portrays Steve Harrington on the series, joked that he has a brand new look in season 4 after putting away his Scoops Ahoy uniform.

“I know that costume served its purpose and I’m glad to retire it,” the actor said. “Do I have it at home for Halloween? I don’t, unfortunately. They won’t let me have that one. One day!”

Last month, the Stranger Things reunited in Atlanta for the season 4 table read.

Netflix shared a video of the cast – David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Maya Hawke, Sadie Sink, Keery, Cara Buono, and Priah Ferguson – assembled together at the show’s set, while sharing hugs and laughs with each other.

Harbour’s return to Stranger Things was confirmed earlier this year in the season’s first trailer, despite his character Jim Hopper’s apparent elimination in season 3.

Season 4 of Stranger Things was renewed last September. The show’s third season, which dropped last summer, boasted the biggest viewership number for a Netflix original series and film in its first days.

Two months following the show’s renewal, the series’ writers room Twitter account tweeted a photo of the fourth season’s first episode.

Stranger Things season 4 is expected to debut on Netflix later this year.
