Over the weekend fans of the beloved series Supernatural got some bad news when the network and the show’s stars revealed that the 15th season will be the last.
Executive producers Robert Singer and Andrew Dabb released the following statement about the show ending: “Firstly, we would like to thank all the people who have been involved with the show both in front of and behind the camera. For us it has been an experience of a lifetime. The support we have had from both Warner Bros Television and The CW has been incredible. We’d like to give special thanks to Jensen, Jared and Misha for making this journey so special. It is now most important to us to give these characters that we love the send off they deserve.”
Supernatural’s stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles who play Sam and Dean Winchester and Misha Collins who plays Castiel came together to share the news with fans in a video announcement they shared on social media.
“We have some big news that we wanted y’all to hear from us,” Padalecki starts things off with Ackles delivering the kicker: “We just told the crew that though we’re very, very excited about moving into our 15th season, it will be our last…We wanted you to hear from us that though we’re excited about net year, it will be the finale, the big grand finale of an institution.”
Collins chimed in to say that “This family is not going anywhere even though this show ill come to an end.”
Ackles then shared some words from the show’s creator Eric Kripke saying, “In a show about family, it is amazing and it is the pride of his life that it became family, so thank you guys.”
Supernatural premiered back in 2005 and quickly became a fan-favorite series and as of season 11 it became the longest-running American live-action fantasy TV series.
