Taylor Swift has made her love for her adopted home city of New York widely known and fortunately for them she’s not only a star that talks the talk but also walks the walk.

Last fall Swift, 25, pledged to donate all the proceeds from her hit single “Welcome to New York” to N.Y.C’s public schools while making an appearance on The View. Swift discussed her newest single stating, “It’s selling really, really well, which is good because I’m donating all my proceeds to New York City Public schools.”

Now, reports have confirmed to Capital New York that the star has recently made good on it by donating $50,000 to the New York City Department of Education but it is not clear if that is the full amount or if there will be more donations to come from “The Shake It Off” star.

“We’re deeply appreciative of this kind of gesture to donate her proceeds of the single, ‘Welcome to New York’ to benefit New York City public schools,” Department of Education spokeswoman Devora Kaye stated on Tuesday (Feb. 24).

The donation comes after Swift was named the city’s “Global Welcome Ambassador” and after the megastar topped the list of philanthropic stars on DoSomething.org’s “Celebs Gone Good” list.
