Fans of MTV’s Teen Mom OG and Teen Mom 2 are petitioning MTV to fire longtime star Jenelle Evans and her husband David Eason after Eason made several shocking and homophobic comments on Twitter over the weekend.

The outrage first began after the 29-year-old posted a photo of Evans holding an assault rifle for his Valentine’s Day message which was posted only one day after the horrific school shooting in Florida. In response to the anger from fans, Eason ended up offending many more as he insulted those of the LGBTQ community in a series of tweets. After arguing with a follower about whether or not guns should be allowed in school, Eason wrote,  “And just what makes you think you have the right to tell me how to be a parent. Because you think you know me? LMAO, why don’t you tell the homo and transgender parents to start teaching their kids better morals. Oh, I forgot, that’s supposed to be normal.”

While those tweets have now been deleted, they were up long enough for many to get screenshots of them, and his homophobic rant continued with other comments. When one follower wrote, “Who are you to say what’s normal or what’s moral? Are you going to teach your children to hate gay and transgender people?” to which Eason responded, “No. I’m going to teach them not to associate with them, or be that way…If you lay down with dogs you get up with fleas.”

His responses have incited major backlash, with one social media user writing, “This is the type of person that’s allowed on tv, the type of person that’s paid by @mtv & @Viacom, and the type of person our youth is influenced by! We need to take a stand for gender equality and show our youth they’re loved no matter who they grow up to be! FIRE DAVID EASON!”

So far, MTV has not commented on the petition to get Eason and Evans fired, but several Teen Mom 2 and Teen Mom OG stars have reacted to Eason’s comments, agreeing he should not be on the show anymore.
