The Masked Singer sent home an iconic singer this week in the group C finals!
During this week’s episode, the remaining Group C contestants competed for a chance to advance to the Super Six. Broccoli, Mushroom, and Jellyfish were the three contestants competing and only two could make it through to the next level.
The group kicked off the evening with a group performance to The Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back.” They also provided some additional clues in which Mushroom teased his ties to “Washington,” Jellyfish shared an “Oscar moment,” and Broccoli showed off some “toes & knees.”
Jellyfish continued the evening with a solo performance of Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now” and Mushroom took the stage next with a soulful version of Katy Perry’s “Unconditionally.” Broccoli closed out with Bob Seger’s “Old Time Rock & Roll.”
Following the performances, the judges’ and virtual audiences’ votes were counted which ultimately revealed that Jellyfish would be moving forward in the Super Six and Mushroom and Broccoli would have to compete in a Smackdown Round. Broccoli sang a rendition of “Take Me Home to Alabama” and Mushroom performed to Donny Hathaway’s “A Song For You.”
The judges decided after the performances that Mushroom could stay and head to the Super Six, which meant Broccoli would have to unmask and go home. The judges offered their guesses of who Broccoli could be including Paul Simon, Wayne Newton, Neil Sedaka, and Ringo Starr.
Robin Thicke nailed his guess, however, with his thought that Canadian Paul Anka could be Broccoli. “I’m very humbled because we have gone through something in our country and to have this kind of fun and enjoy this like this, you should all be very, very proud,” the legendary singer said of his time on the show.
