This Is Us has officially set a series finale date.
The finale date was announced on Friday during NBC’s Scripted Press Day panel. Showrunner Dan Fogelman and the cast, including Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson and Jon Huertas, shared the news. Chrissy Metz and Chris Sullivan were not in attendance at the event.
They revealed that the finale will take place this upcoming May 24th at 9 p.m. ET/PT. “It’s gonna deliver. It’s truly, truly going to deliver,” Ventimiglia said about the finale.
Fogelman also shared some details about what fans can expecting for the rest of season 6 and revealed that the show will focus more time in the Pearson family’s future.
The executive producer shared that much of the final season will focus on Kate’s second wedding, Kevin’s house where Rebecca is, and the “deeper future” of Jack Jr. “Towards the end of the season, it’s fair to say we’ll live there more,” he revealed.
While fans may be sad to say goodbye to This Is Us, both the actors and the producers have expressed that it was always the plan to end the show after season six. “We know where it ends and we know the path for each season. We’ve always had a plan, we didn’t want to get stuck,” Fogelman revealed.
“The show won’t overstay its welcome, we have a story to tell, we want to do this the right way.”
This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on NBC.
