After news broke yesterday that longtime Criminal Minds star Thomas Gibson had been suspended from the series after he got into an altercation on-set in which he kicked one of the show’s writer, it seems there may be more consequences on the way.
According to TMZ, who have had an inside scoop on the story since the beginning, Gibson’s entire job is now on the line and that CBS and Criminal Minds executives are thinking of cutting him from the show. Reports also state that writers are already working on a story line for next season which get rid of Gibson’s character Aaron Hotchner altogether.
As of right now Gibson has already been suspended from set for two weeks after the altercation which occurred while Gibson was directing, as well as acting in an episode. Writers have come up with a temporary storyline for his absence for the episodes he is missing while on suspension, and sources are saying if Gibson does return to set he will not direct again.
The possibility of firing the actor completely is a result of more than one incident with the star. Back in 2010, Gibson was ordered by network executives to attend anger management classes after he pushed an assistant director. Sources connected to Gibson say they have not heard anything about the actor getting fired from the show.
After the incident, Gibson spoke out stating, “There were creative differences on the set and a disagreement. I regret that it occurred. We all want to work together as a team to make the best show possible. We always have and always will.”
