When it comes to country music’s cutest couples, fans don’t have look any further than Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren Akins.
The country star doesn’t stop gushing about his wife, and has no problem admitting she is the inspiration for many of his hit love songs such as “Die a Happy Man” and “Star of the Show,” and he is also a very proud husband to his wife’s work.
For years, Lauren Akins has worked with the 147 Million Orphans organization and has done numerous mission trips to Uganda, Haiti, and Honduras and together Rhett and Lauren put together a charity concert to raise money for the organization. The “Thomas Rhett & Friends” event raised over $250,000 for the organization.
Friends and fans raised the money at a farm-to-table dinner where they bid on tables to attend a private concert hosted by the 26-year-old singer. He also had many of his famous friends on stage throughout the night including Dierks Bentley, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line and producer/songwriter Shane McAnally.
As for what working the organization has meant for Rhett and Lauren, she said, “They’re precious – you want to bring them all home. One day we’re gonna figure out how to bring them all home.” She went on to add that the pair, who have now been married for four years, are very open to adopting in the future. “We both have a huge heart for orphans and I think definitely one day we’d want to adopt.” “Even before we got married, [adoption] is something I’ve been passionate about. My mother is adopted — I’ve been a product of that,” explained Akins. “If that’s how the Lord wants to design our family, we’ll roll with it. We definitely want kids.”
