Tim Allen will be reprising his iconic role as Scott Calvin, also known as Santa Claus, on an upcoming Disney+ TV series.
Disney announced on Friday that Allen would be reprising the iconic role and also executive produce the limited-run Santa Clause TV series. The series will follow Calvin as he realizes that his time as Santa may be coming to a close. The series will follow Calvin as he sets out to find a replacement and plans to transition his life and family back into the normal world.
The official logline reads: “Scott Calvin is on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever. He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.”
The upcoming limited series will mark the fourth time that Allen has reprised the role of Scott Calvin. The original Santa Clause film premiered in 1994 with two sequels to follow in 2002 and 2006.
Jack Burditt, the creator of Last Man Standing, will serve as executive producer and showrunner on The Santa Clause series. Kevin Hench, Richard Baker, and Rick Messina will also executive produce. The series will be produced by 20th Television and production on the series will begin in March.
