Red carpet events are always outstanding fashion fiestas but the annual Met Gala is known as one of the best for drawing in all of the A-listers in the best of the best of their style choices in what is regarded as fashion’s biggest night. On Monday May 4 the stars came together for the 2015 Met Gala and this year’s theme was ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’, opening up a huge realm of possibility for the style showdown. As per usual there were a lot of fashion risks that paid off, with gowns and accessories that none of us regular people could even dream of pulling off, yet these celebrities look absolutely flawless.
Some themes were obvious in the fashion of the night and gold gowns was one of them however, Kate Hudson’s really out shined them all. The gorgeous actress showed off her incredible body in a stunning Michael Kors floor length dress with a high neck and open back. She topped off the look with a sparking Lorraine Scwhartz headpiece and Edie Parker clutch. It may not have been the most daring look of the night but it was definitely one of the best.
Rihanna has always been a risk taker whether it be with her music or fashion, and this time it definitely paid off. The singer stopped the show and turned heads by going all out for the China theme with her yellow Guo Pei ball gown. The fur detailing and dramatic train would have been way too much for some people but Rihanna looked great, matching the look with Christian Louboutin heels and an embellished headpiece.
There is absolutely no-one else who land on the best dressed list with this look other than iconic fashionista herself -Carrie Bradshaw, we mean Sarah Jessica Parker. While Rihanna rocked the theme with her insane gown, SJP let her headpiece steal the show. The intricate Philip Treacy piece looked unbelievable matched with her beaded one-sleeved H&M black gown with intricate designs.
Kerry Washington has burst on to the scene has a fashion queen and she did not disappoint at the Met Gala. The Scandal star looked like a Disney princess in a pink Prada gown matched with Mary Jane heels and a perfect pink pout to set off the elegant yet fun style.
While gold gowns were often seen throughout the night, another trend was also prevalent and much more risky. Some gorgeous stars decided to remind us how beautiful they are with a nearly naked look, and while it worked for most, Beyonce rocked it only the way Queen Bey can. The songstress looked like royalty in her barely there Givenchy dress decked out in jewels to cover all of the parts necessary but not much else.
While these five stars topped our list there were so many great looks, so honorable mentions go out to Amal Clooney, Chrissy Teigen, Jennifer Lopez, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Kendall Jenner who all looked stunning in their gorgeous gowns.
