When it comes to fashion’s biggest night, the stars must go all out in order to stand out, but at the 2015 Met Gala, there were many that tried a little too hard and ended up standing out for all the wrong reasons. While there was a lot of style success, some celebrities just couldn’t pull off the look they were aiming for with the theme ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’. Many of these ladies have spent a lot of time on Best Dressed lists but Monday night’s event was just not their best for fashion choices.
The barely there gown was a theme for some of the most gorgeous celebrities and while Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez rocked it flawlessly, Kim Kardashian’s look was just not for her. The reality star arrived with husband Kanye West in a see-through gown by Peter Dundas for Roberto Cavalli and unfortunately the beads didn’t hide as much as they should have. As if leaving nothing to the imagination wasn’t bad enough the train flowed out into an awkward feather like fringe, resulting in an off night for the normally stylish star.
Many say that you can speak through your fashion, and no one is still quite sure what Katy Perry was trying to say with her strapless black gown decked out in graffiti. The singer usually leaves the color popping up to her hair but leaving her new “Kris Jenner” pixie cut black, there was a lot of things going on with her dress -none of which were good. To top it off she used a spray paint can as her clutch.
Without a doubt, Beyonce’s little sister Solange Knowles is one of the most buzzed about stars after the Gala, but not for any good reasons. Solange apparently didn’t want to go unnoticed and she definitely did not in a bizarre Giles Deacon dress, that is just plain confusing and definitely not a great fashion choice.
Luckily Miley Cyrus covered up her newly pink underarm hair in her Alexander Wang gown but that was the only positive thing about it. Her slicked back hair and high neck made her look scary and the studs and wide cut-outs would have been better for the Punk theme of Met Galas past.
Lady Gaga always aims for the most shocking or outrageous of styles for her red carpet events and while this one was in comparison very tame, it still did not do her any favors. The black gown with latticed overcoat was matched with an odd headpiece, however Gaga has never been one to follow fashion trends.
While these 5 ladies topped the worst dressed list there were unfortunately quite a few to choose from with honorable mentions going to Chloe Sevigny, Lisa Bonet, Cara Delevingne, Madonna and Olivia Wilde.
