Tracy Morgan May Never Recover From Crash Injuries

Comedian and actor Tracy Morgan, 45, was involved in a serious collision on June 7, 2014 that left him fighting for his life and claimed the life of his friend and fellow comedian, James “Jimmy Mack” McNair.

Morgan was traveling in a limo on the New Jersey Turnpike van with several other comedians on their way from a show in Delaware when a Walmart transport hit their van, Morgan along with three others were injured while McNair was killed.

As a result Morgan suffered a broken nose, broken leg and several broken ribs along with a severe and traumatic brain injury and his lawyer is now saying he may never fully recover.

“He’s fighting to get better, and if there’s a chance for him to be back to the Tracy Morgan he once was, he’s going to try to do that […] When you have a traumatic brain injury it takes a very long time to find out how you’re going to do and how much you’re going to recover,” Morgan’s lawyer Benedict Morelli stated.

While everyone is doing what they can and Morgan has made great leaps, Morelli said it is not certain how far his recovery will go.

“He’s still fighting and trying to live his life at the same time and trying to get better, and he’s just not better. We’re hoping and praying to get him back to where he was. But the jury’s out.”

On Tuesday November 18, lawyers from both parties met at a New Jersey court to figure out an appropriate schedule.

Morgan has sued for both punitive and compensatory damages in a lawsuit filed in September, however, Walmart is stating that the injuries to the victims were partially due to the fact they were not wearing seatbelts.

The truck driver, Kevin Roper, has already been charged with death by auto and four counts of assault by auto and is not named in Morgan’s lawsuit.

Morgan was scheduled to being filming a new comedy series for FX Network before the accident and the project is still on hold.
