What Controversy To Expect At The 2014 VMAs
Published on August 21, 2014. Updated October 15, 2014From Madonna kissing Britney Spears to Miley Cyrus twerking with Robin Thicke, the MTV VMAs are known for sexy, controversial moments. Who will bring the eye-popping moments this year?
Airing this Sunday, August 24 at 9/8c on MTV, the 2014 VMAs will feature performances from Jessie J, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj Sam Smith and Charlie XCX. Since Taylor just dropped her new pop single “Shake It Off,” we expect something very exciting from her, including maybe a special guest — but Taylor isn’t exactly known for controversy.
Beyonce will accept the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award — but again, we’re not thinking of controversy when it comes to Beyonce. Fans will surely be looking to see if she attends with hubby Jay-Z and how they’ll act around each other, since the pair is rumored to be on the brink of divorce, but otherwise, we think Beyonce will keep things pretty mellow.
So when it comes to controversy at the VMAs this year, we’ve got our money on Nicki Minaj, who’s set to perform her new song “Anaconda.” The video features a racy dance with Drake, so we expect the live version to be even crazier.

The Parents Television Council wants MTV to change the show’s rating from TV-14 to TV-MA — do you think it’s really inappropiate for teenagers under the age of 17?
