Many people are intrigued to find out how exactly the erotic novel series “Fifty Shades of Grey” by E.L. James are going to translate to the big screen given their unending graphic sexual content.
Trailers for the movie reveal that quite a bit will of the steaminess in the novels will make its way on screen and now the film’s star Jamie Dornan, who plays Christian Grey, has opened up about how he prepared for the sexually intense role in an interview for the February issue of Elle U.K.
He admitted that he went to a private sex dungeon in order to personally see the type of things his character is into in the film.
“I went there, they offered me a beer, and they did…whatever they were into. I saw a dominant and two submissives. I was like, “Come on guys, I know I’m not paying for this, but I’m expecting a show.’ It was an interesting evening,” the 32-year old actor revealed.
Whether getting a first hand view of some the ‘antics’ eased him for playing Grey is hard to tell because he also stated that, “Then going back to my wife and newborn baby afterwards…I had a long shower before touching either of them.”
While it is obvious this film will be uncomfortable to watch in a theatre full of strangers, Dornan said that filming the steamy scenes with co-star Dakota Johnson, who plays Anastasia Steele, is not as hot as people might think.
“Anyone who thinks actors get turned on doing sex scenes in films is mistaken. There are dozens of hairy men standing around, moving cables and lighting equipment. That’s not sexy unless you’re into being watched, which I’m not.”
Fans of the book series get to see how Dornan’s preparations paid off when Fifty Shades hits theatres on Valentine’s Day 2015.
