It has been a few months since soaps vet Cameron Mathison announced that he was joining General Hospital (GH), which kickstarted an agonizing wait for viewers to know more about his highly secretive role.
Producers have yet to share details on Mathison’s character, or the air-date of his first episode, yet Mathison’s recent social media activity and a leaked GH script appear to make the case that Drew Cain is coming back to Port Charles.
Fans had taken note of the All My Children alum’s scruffy appearance on Instagram of late, but it wasn’t until Mathison’s post on July 2nd that GH viewers knew that Drew Cain was alive, if not necessarily “well”. Appearing bruised, battered and bushy, Mathison shared a photo of himself in front of a sign saying “General Hospital”.
“Here we goooooo!!! See you soon, Port Charles,” Mathison wrote in the caption.
The daytime star’s grizzled look compliments a recently leaked GH script in which a prisoner and guard have a conversation in a foreign prison.

In the script, the guard describes a “boss”, who pulled a number of strings to get the prisoner to this location and wouldn’t hesitate to kill anyone who tried to interfere. The prisoner responds by asking for a ride to the airport as well as the name of the person, or “boss”, who has held him captive all of these years.
Is this all a coincidence, or does it not sound like Drew Cain? After all, the last time we saw Cain (portrayed by Billy Miller at the time), his plane had gone down over the Gulf of Aden, on Peter August’s orders.
Was he pulled from the wreckage and kept imprisoned this whole time? Now that August is off the canvas, this scenario looks more and more likely, but we’ll have to wait a little while longer to find out.
