Will Smith Opens Up About Why He And Jada Don’t Use The Term “Married”

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have one of the longest lasting celebrity marriages in modern Hollywood, yet for some reason they can’t ever escape rumors about an open marriage or that they are splitting.

No matter how many times they say how in love they are, the rumors keep coming, even after more than 20 years and in a new interview on TIDAL’s Rap Radar podcast Will Smith revealed their relationship is so strong, marriage isn’t even a good enough word for it.

“We don’t even say we’re married anymore. We refer to ourselves as life partners,” he explained on the show. “Where you get into that space where you realize you are literally with somebody for the rest of your life. There’s no deal breakers. There’s nothing she could do — ever. Nothing that would break our relationship. She has my support till death, you know what I mean, and it feels so good to get to that space where you’re not complaining, and worrying, and demanding that a person be a certain thing.”

The 49-year-old added, “This right now is the best time in my life, ever, I’ve never been happier.”

A month earlier, Jada Pinkett Smith shared a similar sentiment during her appearance on Sway in the Morning on SiriusXM’s Shade 45 just before Father’s Day.

“Here’s the thing about Will and I, it’s like, we are family, that’s never going down! It’s just not! Ever!” she said.

“Because we are family — take out all that whole marriage, relationship, crap — at the end of the day, Will and I are family, I’m going to hold him down,” she added. “It doesn’t matter, all that relationship and what people think, ideas of a husband and a partner and all that, man, whatever, at the end of the day, that’s a man that can rely on me for the rest of his life, period.”
