Y&R Recasts Chance Chancellor Role With Actor Conner Floyd

Actor Conner Floyd has joined the cast of The Young and the Restless (Y&R) and will fill the role of Chance Chancellor, according to Soap Opera News

The role has been vacated for much of 2021 after Donny Boaz parted ways with the CBS soap under vague circumstances. “I was told that Chance is not being replaced or killed off,” Boaz said at the time. “He just isn’t gonna be there anymore.”

Well, so much for that! Floyd will be the fourth actor to take on the role since 2009, after John Driscoll (2009 through 2011), Donny Boaz (2019 through 2021) and Justin Gaston (a temporary replacement in November 2020) took turns portraying Chance.

In spite of so many actors assuming the character, Chance has spent almost twice as much time off-canvas during the past decade.

Floyd’s casting announcement arrives a few weeks after Y&R star Amelia Heinle (who plays Victoria Newman) posted a set photo that accidentally gave away Chance’s return. In the photo, which has since been deleted, Heinle, Bryton James (Devon Hamilton) and Jess Walton (Jill Abbott) stand in front of a banner that reads, in part, “Chance!”.

If Y&R viewers get their way, Chance’s return should also put to rest the beleaguered storyline of Abby Newman-Abbott-Chancellor’s (Melissa Ordway) grieving, which has become a source of frustration for many fans.

Floyd’s past credits include the TV movies A Kiss On Candy Cane Lane, Malicious Motives and the forthcoming Help Wanted. His Y&R debut will air later on this month.
