Michelle Stafford is known for celebrating her co-stars on The Young and the Restless (Y&R). However, her recent tribute to Mishael Morgan sounded more like a fond farewell than a casual shout-out.
Late on Wednesday, September 28th, Stafford (who plays Phyllis) posted a photo of herself with Morgan (who plays Amanda) on Instagram.
“My super amazing EMMY winning friend! I have had so much fun with you the past 3 years,” Stafford wrote in the caption. “I love the friendship we created on screen. And the friendship we created off screen.”
Stafford recently offered appreciative posts to other co-stars, such as Greg Rikaart and Michael Graziadei, but this post proceeded to take a very different turn.

“SO many amazing things are happening for you and I am beyond excited!” Stafford continued. “The future is yours!”
Morgan’s future with the CBS soap has been in doubt for several weeks, as her character has been off-screen visiting her ailing family. Adding to that lengthy absence, viewers noticed that Morgan’s name was suddenly removed from Y&R credits in August.
“This is the beginning of so much greatness,” Stafford wrote. “I love the scenes we shot today. I love you girl. You are special. Never forget that. Go get um!”
Perhaps the “beginning” Stafford mentioned is related to a fresh contract for Morgan, who recently won her first Daytime Emmy. After all, they were apparently taping new scenes on September 28th.
However, this wouldn’t be the first time Stafford revealed a co-star’s plans before they’d broken their silence. And given the rumors that have persisted over the summer months, this tribute felt more like a goodbye for many Y&R fans.
Let’s hope that Amanda’s return to Genoa City, whenever that happens, will be a lengthy stay — and not a sudden farewell.
