10 Things You Didn’t Know About Ashley Olsen

Ashley Olsen is one half of the celebrity duo known as the Olsen Twins, and has been a star before she could even understand the concept of celebrity. At nine months she started her career with her twin sister Mary-Kate as Michelle Tanner on Full House and from there they both became household names with their own company and brand. They spent a lot of their formative years in the spotlight before both quietly stepping back to enjoy their private life. Ashely is a fiercely private person, but here are 10 things you may not have known about the multi-millionaire, former child star!

10. She’s Older

As twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley don’t go anywhere separately and definitely don’t do anything without the other, but when it comes down to it, Ashley is two minutes older than her sister.

9. Not Identical

Contrary to what many think, Ashley and Mary-Kate are not identical twins, they are fraternal. Ashley is about an inch shorter than her twin and has fuller lips but wider eyes. She is also right-handed and Mary-Kate is left-handed.

8. She Has A Middle Name Too

While her sister is known as Mary-Kate, Ashley just goes by one name but her middle name is Fuller, but Ashley Fuller doesn’t quite have the same ring to it as Mary-Kate does it. Also somewhat funny she starred on Full House which has been rebooted into Fuller House, although the Olsen twins are not involved.

7. Love Life

Although the highlight of their many movies together were their adorable love interests, off-screen the Olsen twins have both been very secretive about their love lives. From 2001-2004 Ashley dated her high school sweetheart Matt Kaplan and then in 2008 she was linked to actor Justin Bartha. Ashley and Justin broke up in March 2011 and in January 2014 she began dating director Bennett Miller who is 20 years her senior. The two are rarely spotted together but sources indicate they are still together.

5. Music Video Star

Ashley Olsen has been a longtime fan of rock music and is a big fan of bands like Thirty Seconds to Mars and Counting Crows. In October 2013 she even appeared in the music video for the song “City of Angels” by Thirty Seconds to Mars.

4. Lawsuits

Over the years, Ashley Olsen has had to use the power of her multi-millions in legal battles. In 2009 she sued the tabloid the National Enquirer for $40 million for libel and false light invasion of privacy after it published a story that she was “caught in a drug scandal.” She stated the tabloid used a misleading cover headline and a photo that made her appear “drugged,’ and was adamant that she “does not use or sell drugs.” Then in August 2015 a former design intern filed a class-action lawsuit against Mary-Kate and Ashley’s company, Dualstar Entertainment. The twins fought back with a countersuit that denied all of the interns claims that the company didn’t adequately compensate its interns for hours of grueling work.

Together, Mary-Kate and Ashley’s entire empire which includes all of their books, games, films and products from when they were younger as well as their current fashion label and Dualstar Entertainment is worth a whopping $1 billion. As for personal net worth, each twin is worth an estimated $150 million.

2. “Favorite” Food

In a past and rare interview in 2014, Ashely Olsen opened up about different aspects of her life including which food gives her “the warm and fuzzies.” She revealed that for her, that food is popcorn. “It’s not my favorite food but the smell is fantastic and it always makes you want to eat it. I don’t eat a lot of popcorn in the movie theaters, but the scent is really great.”

1. Conservative

Over the years, both individually and together, the twins have found themselves on various “sexiest women” lists including FHM’s “100 Sexiest Women” polls in 2005 and 2013 and alone she was ranked #37 on Maxim’s “Hot 100” list of 2007, but they are not into showing off their bodies at all. “I don’t think you necessarily need to show off your stomach and boobs to be sexy. I’m just not attracted to that type of dressing,” Ashley once stated. Her sister also added, “When we were growing up, our mother taught us never to have your belly button exposed.”
