While attending University College London, he formed the band Coldplay. Initially they called themselves Pectoralz and then Starfish until another band offered them the name Coldplay because they weren’t interested in using it anymore.

The lead singer of Coldplay narrowly avoided death when he travelled to Ghana for charity work back in 2005. The plane that was carrying him was almost at the airport when it hit a violent dust storm. The pilot was unable to see the ground and the plane starting lurching to the right and the left. Even though Martin didn’t think he was going to make it, the pilot managed the land the plane safely.
