10 Ways Gwyneth Paltrow Destroyed Her Reputation!
Published on May 15, 2014. Updated April 4, 2017Gwyneth Paltrow is one of the most polarizing figures in Hollywood. Everyone has a strong opinion of her and most people either love her or they hate her. These days, people seem to lean more to the hating side. Not only does Gwyneth not seem relatable but she comes off as incredibly pretentious as well. Rather than try to change people’s opinions by altering how she presents herself, she seems to truly believe that we can all be just like her – if we’re willing to work hard enough. Here are 10 ways that Paltrow destroyed her reputation!
10. She Constantly Namedrops
The Oscar-winning actress nauseates everyone with her constant namedropping. She seems to want everyone to know that she has many famous friends. One of the most surprising names that she has dropped in interviews is Jay Z. “I don’t hold on to fear as much as I used to, because I’ve learned a lot about genuinely not caring what strangers think about me. It’s very empowering, and I’ve learned a lot of that from Jay – Shawn Carter – Z, because his approach to life is very internal. It’s a very good lesson to learn,” Paltrow said.

When Vanity Fair contacted Gwyneth Paltrow’s representatives and friends about a story on the love-hate relationship people seem to have with her, the “Shakespeare in Love” actress demanded, in Kim Jung Un-like fashion, that none of her show business pals speak to the magazine – ever again. “She asked that they not speak to Vanity Fair about her, or about anything else ever again. Ever. Never. Kim Jong-un couldn’t have issued a more blanket demand,” Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter said.

Gwyneth Paltrow uses her website Goop as a way to promote her expensive lifestyle to the masses. A couple of years ago, she opened up online shopping on Goop and, as expected, everything is completely unaffordable. For a pair of Goop jeans, you are looking at shelling out $200. A Goop t-shirt comes with a price tag of $90 and Goop sweat clothes aren’t cheap either – a casual sweat set is $290! Most of us work too hard to pay that much for something to lounge in.

The “Iron Man” star is an exercise fanatic and she thinks that all women have enough time each day to make exercise a priority. “Every woman can make time [to work out] – every woman – and you can do it with your baby in the room. There have been countless times where I’ve worked out with my kids crawling around all over the place. You just make it work.” Paltrow is definitely out of touch – not all mothers have nannies and most have to go back to physically demanding 40 hour/week jobs after they have children.

The “Proof” star isn’t the most forgiving of people. “Back in the day, I had a “frenemy” who, as it turned out, was pretty hell-bent on taking me down. This person really did what they could to hurt me. I was deeply upset, I was angry. I restrained myself from fighting back. I tried to take the high road. But one day I heard that something unfortunate and humiliating had happened to this person. And my reaction was deep relief and…happiness.” With friends like Paltrow, who needs enemies!

Gwyneth Paltrow told E! News that she has it harder than women who work 9 to 5. “I think it’s different when you have an office job, because it’s routine and, you know, you can do all the stuff in the morning and then you come home in the evening. When you’re shooting a movie, they’re like, ‘We need you to go to Wisconsin for two weeks,’ and then you work 14 hours a day and that part of it is very difficult. I think to have a regular job and be a mom is not as, of course there are challenges, but it’s not like being on set.” Poor Gwennie – making millions on set sounds way more challenging than struggling to make ends meet with a 9 to 5 job!

Ever since she shacked up with Chris Martin, she has had nothing but negative things to say about American culture. “We have great dinner parties at which everyone sits around talking about politics, history, art and literature – all this peppered with really funny jokes. But back in America, I was at a party and a girl looked at me and said, ‘Oh, my God! Are those Juicy jeans that you’re wearing?’ and I thought, ‘I can’t stay here. I have to get back to Europe.’” Geesh – God forbid a woman comments on her clothes!

When the “Shakespeare in Love” star announced that she and Chris Martin were separating after over a decade of marriage, she took it as an opportunity to show everyone just how much more evolved she is. “We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to continue in the same manner,” Paltrow said. Thanks to the Oscar-winning actress, we now can add the term “consciously uncouple” to our vocabulary!

The “Country Strong” star thinks she is just like us – but she couldn’t be more wrong! “I’m just a normal mother with the same struggles as any other mother who’s trying to do everything at once and trying to be a wife and maintain a relationship. There’s absolutely nothing perfect about my life, but I just try hard,” Paltrow said. She doesn’t seem to acknowledge that she has had a rather privileged life and that she effortlessly slipped into a life of fame and fortune.

Even though the vast majority of the films Paltrow has been involved in since “Shakespeare in Love” have been less noteworthy and obviously for a paycheck, she still judges other actors and actresses for doing the same thing. “Even actresses that you really admire, like Reese Witherspoon, you think, ‘Another romantic comedy?’ You see her in something like Walk the Line and think, ‘God, you’re so great!’ And then you think, ‘Why is she doing these stupid romantic comedies?’ But of course, it’s for money and status,” Paltrow said.
